Summary:
This is a much older memory—Shade barely looks like he's reached his teens yet. He's seated, along with 2 other boys sitting to either side of him, in the opulent foyer of a grand mansion. The three of them are watching a 4th boy, roughly the same age, receive a tattoo from a stereotypical looking tattoo artist. It seems as if they're waiting their turn, though none of them are particularly excited about it. The poor kid getting the tattoo is doing a pretty poor job of not crying, but refuses an attempt at offering comfort from...Mom?

Somehow, even though Shade is clearly 10-15 years younger in this memory, "Jane Doe" doesn't appear to have aged a day. Or updated her hairstyle. Or makeup.

She backs up when the child in the tattoo chair rebuffs her, concern still pinching her features. Past them, a boy and girl are comforting each other, having just received their own tattoos.

Not a word is spoken throughout the memory as it plays out, but the reluctance and discomfort, and the overbearing sense of obligation is clear in everyone's posture and expression alone. The only individual who seems to approve of the situation is an elderly man with a crisply groomed beard and mustache who, in spite of his stern expression, nods approvingly at the progress before leaving the room.

Things Learned:
  1. He has 6 siblings! 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Is aware his 2nd sister wasn't getting a tattoo, but can't remember why

  2. Remembers their names as numbers. :') Because he was definitely thinking concerned thoughts about 2 and 3 and 4.

  3. Doesn't remember the reason they were given for getting the tattoos, but knows they Had To Get Them

  4. MOM???? Definitely aware she's a robot

  5. Why is our dad a dick and who gave him 7 children
