Summary: Shade is riding in the cab of an ice cream truck being driven down an empty country highway by Garbo Can from Baritones. There's another man in the passenger seat who is wearing too many belts and knives. For some reason neither of them seem concerned that Shade is sitting on the truck's dashboard for this ride.
Eventually they come upon some figures in the distance, and as they close in they can make out a boy and an extremely large man standing together, and a woman and a large (but not extremely large) man standing across from them. Garbo Can waves cheerily at the pair with the boy. :)
And then Knives McGee yells "Go faster!" while Shade lets out a very cheerful "Whee!!" as if this is the most exciting thing he's gotten to do in. A while. It would all seem much more fun if they weren't driving straight at the other mysterious duo who, realizing the danger they're in, have decided to draw guns on the ice cream truck instead of doing anything sensible like diving out of the way. Thankfully they seem to have terrible aim because not one of their shots hits anyone, and the truck clips them before crashing into a parked car, throwing them solidly aside.
Something about the memory blurs at the moment of the crash. It distorts strangely for a moment, and abruptly Shade is looking towards the truck from the passenger seat of a completely different car. The abnormally large man—Luther—is calling for the boy who seems to have vanished. Failing to find the boy, he flings a briefcase he'd been holding out into an open field, distracting the mystery woman long enough for him to help Garbo Can and Knife Boy to the new car.
Shade, still strangely bright and cheery about this whole situation, slaps a hand on the dash as they pile in and chirps, "Let's go!" as they drive off in a confused and excited rush.
Things Learned:
Sure am a ghost!
These guys are all his brothers and most of them sure cannot see him at all
Not really too concerned about where 5 went. Teleporters are just Like This
This was the coolest thing he'd gotten to do in a long time. Finally something that isn't following Klaus into drug dens and rehab clinics!

Summary: This is a much older memory—Shade barely looks like he's reached his teens yet. He's seated, along with 2 other boys sitting to either side of him, in the opulent foyer of a grand mansion. The three of them are watching a 4th boy, roughly the same age, receive a tattoo from a stereotypical looking tattoo artist. It seems as if they're waiting their turn, though none of them are particularly excited about it. The poor kid getting the tattoo is doing a pretty poor job of not crying, but refuses an attempt at offering comfort from...Mom?
Somehow, even though Shade is clearly 10-15 years younger in this memory, "Jane Doe" doesn't appear to have aged a day. Or updated her hairstyle. Or makeup.
She backs up when the child in the tattoo chair rebuffs her, concern still pinching her features. Past them, a boy and girl are comforting each other, having just received their own tattoos.
Not a word is spoken throughout the memory as it plays out, but the reluctance and discomfort, and the overbearing sense of obligation is clear in everyone's posture and expression alone. The only individual who seems to approve of the situation is an elderly man with a crisply groomed beard and mustache who, in spite of his stern expression, nods approvingly at the progress before leaving the room.
Things Learned:
He has 6 siblings! 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Is aware his 2nd sister wasn't getting a tattoo, but can't remember why
Remembers their names as numbers. :') Because he was definitely thinking concerned thoughts about 2 and 3 and 4.
Doesn't remember the reason they were given for getting the tattoos, but knows they Had To Get Them
